Premier League Players To Watch This Season
The new look Premier League is back… and this time its bigger and better than ever before!
New TV deals will see Premier League clubs enter a ‘new era of sustained financial performance’ over the next few years – according to Deloitte, and as a result – many are forecasting that the money spent on new players this season could pass the 1 billion pound mark.
Already teams are investing heavily on playing staff – and that got us excited.
Here, we’ll reveal our ‘top Premier League picks’, or ‘one’s to watch’ for the upcoming season.
First up…
Michy Batshuayi – Marseille to Chelsea
This promising Belgium international didn’t get much chance to prove his worth during Euro 2016, but his impressive record over the last few seasons for Marseille and Standard Liege, coupled with his blistering pace and upper body strength, could mean he helps Chelsea to a top four finish this time around.
At only 22 years of age, many say he’s one for the future, but we think he’ll set the Premier League alight this season.
Steve Mandanda – Marseille to Crystal Palace
We feel a little sorry for Marseille, as it seems they’ve lost all of their stars to Premier League clubs this summer.
We say this because Crystal Palace’s new recruit Steve Mandanda is certainly more than just your standard keeper! Versatile, agile and good in the air, this 31 year old has plenty of experience between the sticks.
He was only kept out of the French starting XI at the Euro’s because of Hugo Lloris!
We’re predicting a 12th to 14th finish for Palace this year – simply because ‘big Steve’ will keep a fair few clean sheets for them.
Ahmed Musa – CSKA Moscow to Leicester
With 42 goals in 125 appearances for CSKA, Mr Musa doesn’t have the greatest goals per game ratio, but his sheer power and ability to hold the ball up will give Leicester that little something extra this season. (no doubt Jamie Vardy will be licking his lips at that prospect)
Think Yakubu in his Portsmouth days and you’ve got the jist!
Henrikh Mkhitaryan – Borussia Dortmund to Manchester United
Dortmund must be absolutely gutted!
Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been a mainstay in their team for a good few years now, notching 23 goals in 88 appearances (between 2013 and 2016) in all competitions.
We think United will definitely finish in the top four this season – especially considering big Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be on the end of Henrikh’s crosses!
Viktor Fischer – Ajax to Middlesbrough
If you’re a fan of Football Manager and you’ve scoured the market for some of the best young talent on the globe, you may have come across Viktor Fischer.
Fischer started his career in the prestigious Ajax youth team, in which he was considered to be one of the brightest talents.
This pacey winger can play on the left or right wing as well as in the number 10 position, but his versatility is just the beginning.
He’s fast, energetic, skillful and is dangerous at set pieces too. Keep an eye on this one.
