High Force Waterfall, Middleton-in-Teesdale
High Force is a large waterfall in Teesdale at 71 feet (22 metres), this is a stunning place to photograph, especially since the waterfall is located within the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Beauty. A visit to High Force is highly recommended as it will give you great photography opportunities.
Hadrian’s Wall, Northumberland
One of the most popular tourist attractions in the north of England and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Hadrian’s Wall is 73 miles long and the height varies. You will capture some great landscape photos from the wall.
Sunderland Museum, Sunderland
Sunderland Museum features a fine collection of paintings; the collections here have been growing since the 19th Century and continue to grow. The exhibits have a particular focus on industry and social history within the North East, so it is a great chance to learn about this great area. There is also the Winter Gardens House which feature over 2,000 plants and trees, all displayed under a 30 metre dome.
Transporter Bridge, Middlesbrough
The Transporter Bridge is one of the most famous landmarks in the North East; connecting Middlesbrough with Port Clarence it carries cars and pedestrians across the River Tees in just 90 seconds. The bridge is over 100 years old and is the longest remaining transporter bridge in the world. You can get some great photos around this area showing the industrial landscape and the River Tees.
Angel of the North, Gateshead
Another famous North East landmark is the Angel of the North, near Gateshead. This steel angel sculpture stands at 20 metres with 54 metre wings, the angel sits on a hill overlooking the A1 and A167 as well as the East Coast Main Line rail route. Work started in 1994, cost £800,000 and was completed in 1998. This area provides excellent photography opportunities.
